As a diehard fan of all things funny, sitcoms are a staple within my entertainment diet. I live for the laughs provided by those key characters that a sitcom would be lost without, and Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) of Big Bang Theory is one of those characters that does it for me every time.
I couldn’t tell you if it’s his hilariously obsessive habits of which he is utterly arrogant, his complete oblivion of that arrogance, or the particularly dry tone in which he expresses it, but every single shred of Sheldon’s airtime is sheer “sitcomedic” gold.
Big Bang Theory is not one of those exceptionally written shows with a flawless plot line and tight cast that keep you longing for the next episode. For me, BBT is completely carried by Sheldon’s character, with the other four lead roles providing the odd comic relief among mostly awkward acting.
Earlier tonight, to my sincere delight, Jim Parsons was awarded an Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as the neurotic yet beloved theoretical physicist, Sheldon Cooper, so I thought I would dedicate this post to a few of Sheldon’s most memorable quotes and moments:
“I’m not crazy; my mother had me tested.”
“I think that you have as much of a chance of having a sexual relationship with Penny as the Hubble telescope does of discovering that at the center of every black hole is a little man with a flashlight searching for a circuit breaker.”
“Allegiance to male comrades before women who sell their bodies for money.”
“Well, I’m polarized tree sap and you’re inorganic adhesive, so whatever verbal projectile you launch in my direction it’s reflected off of me, returns on its original trajectory and adheres to you.”
Penny – “I’m a Sagittarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know.”
Sheldon – “ Yes, it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the sun’s apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality.”

Trident quote is hilarious.
Interesting musings on Toronto as a music fan appreciation city btw (I feel the same way about NYC). Too bad this passion doesn’t extend to Raptor fans – they are DOA from start to finish
Haha, now that I think of it a Raptors home game is a pretty accurate comparison to the spirit I noticed at that Montreal concert. Everyone shows up to act bored. Next stop: NYC!
