Burn Notice (Season Finale)

I want to have the Time Management skills of Michael Weston.  Seriously, he should teach a class!  I have trouble organizing my time well enough to make sure I have groceries, gas in my car, clean clothes to wear to work, etc. but Michael can somehow fit in rescuing a kidnapped little girl along with tracking down a business executive baddy, meeting up with disgruntled friend and partner, Jesse in just 2 days.  When exactly does this man do laundry or run to the grocery store to buy his snack of choice, yogurt?

Michael taking the time to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a sleazy defense attorney brings up two interesting points.  First, by having Michael always rescuing puppies and other innocents, it almost happens too often for us to keep the image of Michael the badass in our heads.  Due to the Simon story arc of this season, we need to see more of Michael acting as one bad dude – he has to be tough enough to take on not only Simon but the mysterious figures he is trying to find who are worse than Simon.

Second, how can Jesse believe that Michael is this terrible guy who wronged him when the man puts his own life on the line for the sake of a little girl?  Let’s not forget all the other victims Michael risked himself for, battered wives, swindled charity organizers, etc.  Jesse has seen a fair share of Michael running to the rescue since they teamed up, so Jesse comes up as rather a dense cupcake to suddenly throw all the evidence out the window that Michael is a bad person.  Or maybe not….after all the last image we were left with was Michael bleeding out and a booted figure approaching who grabs the briefcase of names.  We are left to wonder if it’s Jesse and will the first episode next season open with Jesse reaching down to Michael while holding the briefcase in the other hand?

About the Author

The happiest day of my life was the day DVR's became available giving me the ability to watch even more TV! In a city where people proudly proclaim they "don't own a TV", I proudly proclaim, "I do own and watch TV. In fact, for those who say TV is not educational, I have learned the meaning of 'cardial infarction', how to hotwire a car, who Bruno Magli is and how honeybees mate. When I am not watching TV, I write and now as a writer for TBSYNW -I get to do both.
