God’s greatest gift is …….a better plot

I’m fairly new to Psych, so I’m experiencing a love-hate relationship with it. Needless to say, it has recently become a part of my Wednesday rotation.

Tonight’s episode, SHAWN & GUS IN DRAG (RACING) features the ever-so-sexy, Adam Rodriguez (aka- Eric from CSI Miami) where he plays a tough guy, Tommy who runs the underground street racing scene and kills a member of his clique because he wants his [the victim’s] Lamborghini. The mere fact that Shawn and Gus tried to prove their street racing skills based on their love for the movie, Fast & Furious should’ve let me know it was starting off with their usual foolery. Despite the occasional giggle as Shawn and Gus decided on their “street names” and raced ‘Tommy’ with their beat-up old school truck, I was thoroughly bored by the lack of creativity.  Seriously, it’s not enough that Shawn isn’t really a psychic; you have to offer a lazy plot too?  Overall the episode is guilty of being overly corny, often having Adam (Tommy) proclaim that “God’s greatest gift is Adrenaline” with Shawn ending the episode with “God’s greatest gift is indeed friendship.” Not to mention, it also aggravates me that the best motive that was chosen for murder was actually a Lamborghini. I could’ve come up with another cliché motive that would’ve been at least half way acceptable. But of course, Adam was sexy, Shawn and Gus solve the case and everyone feels warm fuzzy inside. In all fairness, who can resist a happy ending when all good things come together?
