“So You Think You Can Get Injured”

Last week, ballet dancer Alex was sent to the hospital after tearing his Achilles tendon, resulting in him being eliminated. Now this week, contemporary dancer Ashley had to sit out due to a rib injury. This show is ridiculously hardcore. The dancing is leaps and bounds above previous seasons in difficulty and entertainment. We saw the first Tahitian dance of the series, which basically involves feathers and a lot of Beyoncé booty shaking. My favorite quote of the evening was Mia Michaels comparing it to a “duck in heat”. I don’t know what kind of ducks she’s seen, but I’d pay to watch it. Next up was a Salsa number performed by Adechike who was “ripped a new one” last week by Mia. She did apologize for her insensitivity and he redeemed himself with a seriously difficult routine. The stand out of the night was a contemporary piece by underdog Robert, who danced a personal and emotional routine that left the audience on their feet and in tears. Though I’m sure it won’t receive as much buzz, but Tyce Diorio’s Broadway number with Kent and all-star Neal seriously sent the show out of the park. It was a manly baseball number that used every athletic and aerobatic trick in the book. There is nothing sexier then two men in uniforms doing masculine jumps and getting dirty. It was fun, entertaining, and really showcased the supreme talent of this year’s contestants.
